I need recipes and money saving tips for this yeast elimination thing (can't get rid of thrush. Nutritionist recommended yeast elimination diet. Willing to try anything at this point....)

So, here's the deal, for the next four to six weeks, I can eat only off of this list, and I am about clueless as to what to make that James-friendly (not super chick foods, not too hard on the wallet.)

I would stick to oatmeal (LOTS!) and fenugreek.

Fenugreek, take it until your urine smells like maple syrup.

But it can lower your blood sugar, so watch out for that.

is avocado, flax seeds (or flax seed oil), or barley ok?
no mothers milk tea? fenugreek or alfalfa?

all those are lactation helps.

Is no cheese, pasta, or rice allowed? Even organic types???

Out of the list, I could come up with a couple of stir frys, a couple of chicken recipes, stuffed tomatoes, salads...if you can have parmesan cheese, eggplant parmesan is good.

Most of what I see in the first category would make some good salads and some things would be useful in a soup.

I can't think of any recipes. At least you can have fish and poultry. That's a really stringent diet, worse than a diabetic diet.

Jeez. You make it sound like your list is limited. I could live the rest of my life just on this list.

Quick example:
Take a tuna steak. Give it a good salt and pepper, and sprinkle it with flax seed or flax meal. Get a pan good and hot, add just a very tiny bit of sunflower oil. Toss down your tuna steak and let it cook for 30 seconds to one minute, flip over, and cook just as long. It'll be good and pink in the middle, and it'll taste fantastic!

Get the flax oil, some sage, a bit of salt and pepper, and make a good paste to smather on the tuna steak. You'll wanna slap your mama it tastes so good.

My reading has indicated that brown rice is okay in small quantities. I made a spelt bread that's actually quite good last weekend, and I've been eating 2-3 slices a day of that.

I got in touch with a LLL leader who's been following a Candida diet (similar to yours, but not as restrictive) through the [livejournal.com profile] candidiasis community. Would you like her contact info? She doesn't know any other breastfeeding moms who are following such a restrictive diet except for me (and I'm a cheater), and she was extremely helpful to me.
